Fans play a key role in thermal management, energy efficiency optimization and system reliability assurance in hybrid power systems, especially when balancing the coordinated operation of multiple energy sources such as internal combustion engines, electric motors, batteries and fuel cells. Their role directly affects the system's energy efficiency, life and stability.

 

Ventilation and Coling Fan

  1. Thermal management and heat dissipation control

 

  • Battery cooling: The power battery pack (temperature sensitive range: 15-35℃) requires forced air cooling or liquid cooling (liquid cooling requires a fan to drive the radiator airflow) to prevent thermal runaway (capacity decay accelerates by 20% when the temperature difference is >5℃).
  • Motor and electronic control heat dissipation: The drive motor (efficiency loss is converted into heat) and the inverter (temperature >85℃ derating operation) rely on fans to dissipate heat and maintain power output stability.

 

  1. Internal combustion engine intake optimization

 

  • Turbocharger support: In hybrid vehicles, the electric turbine (e-Turbo) requires a high-speed centrifugal fan (speed >100,000rpm) to provide transient boost and reduce turbo lag (response time <0.5 seconds).
  • EGR cooling: The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system requires a fan to cool the high-temperature exhaust gas (>600℃→150℃) and reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions (reduced by 30%-50%).

 

  1. Fuel cell system gas supply

 

  • Oxygen supply: Fuel cells (such as hydrogen fuel) require fans to force air delivery (air compressor power share > 20%) to ensure sufficient oxygen (excess coefficient 1.5-2.0) and improve the efficiency of the stack (> 55%).
    • Technological breakthrough: high-speed oil-free centrifugal fan (pressure ratio 3:1), energy consumption reduced by 40%.
  • Hydrogen circulation: The hydrogen circulation fan keeps the anode hydrogen uniformly distributed to prevent "hydrogen starvation" (local current density drops by 50%).

 

  1. Energy recovery and auxiliary power supply

 

  • Braking energy recovery heat dissipation: During energy recovery, the battery/motor instantaneous power surges, and the fan quickly cools down to prevent overheating and power limiting.
  • Low-voltage system energy supply: Some hybrid systems (such as 48V mild hybrid) use electric fans to drive air conditioners and water pumps to reduce engine load (fuel consumption is reduced by 5%-10%).
