Solating Switch Overview
● Isolating switches are derived from corresponding circuit breaker models, sharing identical dimensions and compatibility with accessories.
● The only difference from circuit breakers is the absence of overcurrent protection trip units. Available in fixed or draw-out types, 3-pole or 4-pole, and identified by the "/MS" suffix. Suitable for AC-23A applications (motor or high inductive load switching), compliant with IEC 60947-3.
Isolating Switches for up to 1150V AC / 1000V DC
For AC up to 1150V
● 1150V AC isolating switches complement electrical systems operating at 1150V AC, complying with IEC 60947-3.
● Identified by the "/E" suffix (e.g., Bmax/E MS), derived from standard 690V AC-rated circuit breakers.
● Available in 3-pole or 4-pole, fixed or draw-out types, with universal compatibility for Emax accessories.
● Standard fixed bases can be used in 1150V AC draw-out circuit breakers, tested at 1250V AC.
For DC up to 1000V
● ABB’s Emax/E MS series DC isolating switches for 1000V DC comply with IEC 60947-3. Designed for DC systems (e.g., rail traction), suitable for 1000V DC/6300A installations.
● Available in fixed or draw-out types, 3-pole or 4-pole:
- 3-pole: Suitable for 750V DC systems when connected in series.
- 4-pole: Suitable for 1000V DC systems when connected in series.
● Shares identical dimensions and mounting positions with standard circuit breakers. Compatible with universal terminal units and accessories, but excludes electronic trip units, current sensors, and AC-specific accessories.
● For 750/1000V DC, draw-out breakers must be paired with dedicated fixed parts rated for these voltages.
