Series Overview
Series Overview
- Phaseo ABL6TS and ABT7 single - phase transformers are connected to a (50 or 60Hz) 230V~ or 400~, ±15V connector set through the primary side. Through conversion, they ensure that the control circuit of electrical equipment is provided with the actual required grid voltage.
- ABL - 6T transformers are rated based on the continuously providable apparent power. But they are also used to provide much higher power when necessary, such as the inrush current peak of contactors.
- The inrush current peak of contactors can reach 10 to 20 times the required holding current. This will make the transformer exceed the size of the continuous power that its model should provide. When selecting a transformer, it must be ensured that the voltage drop on its terminals due to the inrush current is kept within the allowable range so that the contactor can close normally.
-
The continuous power to be provided by the transformer
-
The maximum inrush current it must provide
-
In practical applications, only the sum of the holding currents and the maximum contactor inrush current need to be considered.
-
For ABL 6TS transformers, the following diagram can be used to select an appropriate rated value through these two current values. This can ensure that the maximum voltage drop is within 5% when the inrush current occurs, thus ensuring the normal operation of the entire equipment.
-
However, these transformers are designed for rated loads and an ambient temperature of 50°C. A decrease in ambient temperature may derate the transformer, so in some cases, a lower rated value can be used. The following diagram is drawn for temperatures of 35°C and 50°C.
- By using fuses or thermal - magnetic circuit breakers installed on the secondary side, short - circuits of the transformer can be prevented. If operation in compliance with UL standards is required, short - circuit protection must be achieved through fuses installed on the primary side (UL recognized).
- In control circuits isolated from the ground (IT system), a leakage detector will display any unexpected ground faults.
