  • Integrated communication solutions, including the 3VA MCCB and 7KM PNC measuring device. Communication capability is available for MCCBs rated from 25A to 1600A.
  • The 3VA MCCB offers optional communication capability. The electronic trip units ETU760 or ETU660 support communication functions.
  • Communication modules support Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU.
  • The MCCB and accessories feature a highly modular design, allowing easy retrofitting of all communication components. Two different communication modules can be used simultaneously.
  • Simple integration into energy monitoring systems, featuring basic or advanced modular metering functions compliant with standard IEC 61557-12, applicable for ETU760/ETU660 electronic trip units.
  • Simple integration into plant monitoring systems for monitoring status values/measured values/alarms and enabling warnings/diagnostics/maintenance.
  • 3VA MCCB can be equipped with internal or external I/O modules for switchgear-related condition monitoring, significantly enhancing the technical advantages of the switchgear.
  • Innovative software for commissioning, testing, parameter setting, operation, monitoring, archiving, and diagnostics of the MCCB. This can be done locally via the display, test device, or gateway device, or remotely via the communication module.
  • The MCCB can be integrated into the Totally Integrated Power (TIP) solution.

Advantages:

  • Compact Size
    • The 3VA MCCB structure is extremely compact. 3-pole/4-pole breakers can be installed in 400mm wide switchgear. Two 3-pole 3VA MCCBs can even be installed side-by-side in 600mm wide switchgear.
    • According to standard IEC 60947-2, the MCCB operates without derating at an ambient temperature of 70°C.
  • Reduced Complexity
    • The improved ordering number system helps users easily achieve customized solutions without extra effort.
    • Auxiliary contacts and switch status contacts are included as standard at no extra cost.
    • The new product selection tool guides users step-by-step through the selection process.
  • Modular Design
    • Components such as auxiliary releases, motor operators with spring charging mechanism, electronic trip units, external current sensors, auxiliary signaling contacts, automatic reset devices, and interlocking devices can be replaced or retrofitted later to meet changing new requirements.
  • Flexible Connection and Mounting Options
    • The 3VA MCCB offers various front/rear wiring options and can be mounted directly on the control panel rear plate or on a mounting plate.
  • Electronic Trip Unit Retrofit Module
    • The electronic trip unit can be upgraded at any time. This is easily achieved by replacing the electronic trip unit. For example, when using the MF Advanced metering function, the Earth Fault Protection (EF) function can be added by replacing the rating plug in the ETU660. Rating plugs, metering functions, and communication modules for the electronic trip unit enable quick and easy retrofitting and adaptation to changing requirements.
  • Communication/Metering Functions
    • Using advanced circuit breakers with communication capabilities opens up new possibilities in startup, parameter setting, diagnostics, as well as maintenance and operation. This provides multiple ways to reduce engineering costs and increase productivity in plants, buildings, and infrastructure:
      • Supports the simultaneous use of two different bus systems, such as Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU.
      • Quick and secure parameter setting via communication path, test device, or display device connected to a mobile terminal.
      • Timely information and responses can prevent plant production interruptions.
  • Efficient Diagnostic Management
    • Based on measured values, efficient load management is possible, facilitating power demand planning and cost center-based power allocation.
    • Preventive maintenance helps avoid the risk of costly plant downtime.
  • Comprehensive Metering Functions
    • Measures values such as current, voltage, energy, power, etc.
    • Reads measurement interval memory to identify trends in the plant.
    • Reads high-precision data log buffers to perform network analysis of current and voltage characteristics.
  • Integrated Power Management
    • Integrated power management functions combined with a direct Ethernet communication link enable standardization of protection and measurement architectures for 3VA MCCB distribution boards. This results in significant space savings, reduced design effort and time, and facilitates configuration for industrial and infrastructure power distribution.
  • New Benchmark for CAx and Engineering Support
    • New online tools in the product selection tool and CAx interfaces provide comprehensive support for configuring and integrating devices in applications. This detailed CAx data is unique in the MCCB market and lays the foundation for the "digital twin".
  • Extended Protection Functions of the Electronic Trip Unit
    • Extended and directional protection functions support a wide range of applications. They provide solutions for the challenges of distributed power systems. The 3VA MCCB also offers customized solutions for tie-breakers in LPS systems or grid systems, requiring directional protection settings and selective response.

Applications:

  • Used as incoming, distribution, tie, and feeder circuit breakers in power distribution systems.
  • For switching and protecting motors, capacitors, generators, transformers, busbars, and cables.
  • When connected to instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, the 3VA MCCB also offers various options for network event monitoring.
  • The MCCB belongs to the SENTRON product family of protection, switching, measurement, and monitoring devices for applications from 25 A to 1600 A.
  • AC types include MCCBs and load disconnector switches compliant with standards IEC 60947-3 and IEC 60947-2 Appendix L (CBI-Y).

Standards:

  • The 3VA MCCB complies with the following standards:
    • Molded Case Circuit Breaker: IEC 60947-2
    • Load Disconnector Switch: IEC 60947-3
    • Load Disconnector Switch: IEC 60947-3 and IEC 60947-2 Appendix L (CBI-Y)
    • IEC 60947-2 Appendix F / CISPR 11/22 Class B
    • Weather resistance according to standard IEC 60068-2-30.
  • Notes on the use of Load Disconnector Switches:
    • If the load disconnector switch is additionally equipped with an external protective relay with a maximum delay time of 500 ms, the breaking capacity at the maximum rated operational voltage (Ue) can be achieved, equivalent to the rated short-time withstand current (Icw) for one second.
