Series Overview Outline
Typically applied in space-saving designs. The 3VL molded case circuit breaker adopts an extremely compact design, meeting the requirements of space-saving power distribution systems with a performance range from 16A to 1600A. Depending on specific requirements, universal types and breakers with communication functions are available for line and motor protection, starter combinations, or as non-automatic air circuit breakers. Corresponding trip units are also supplied, either thermal-magnetic trip units (16A to 630A) or electronic trip units (63A to 1600A). The internal accessories for the 3VL molded case circuit breaker comprise only two series, offering maximum versatility at the lowest cost.

Standards and Specifications
SENTRON 3VL circuit breakers comply with the following standards:
● IEC 60947-1, EN 60947-1, DIN VDE 0660 Part 100, IEC 60947-2, EN 60947-2, DIN VDE 0660 Part 101.
● Isolation characteristics comply with IEC 60947-2, EN 60947-2.
● Disconnection characteristics (master switch) comply with EN 60204 and DIN VDE 0113. SENTRON 3VL circuit breakers also meet the requirements for "disconnecting switch devices for emergency stop and shut-off functions" (emergency stop switch), used in conjunction with lockable rotary operators (red-yellow) and terminal covers.
● The overcurrent trip units for circuit breakers used in motor protection also comply with IEC 60947-4-1, DIN VDE 0660 Part 102.
● VL160X to VL400 circuit breakers can be fitted with a SENTRON 3VL BCD module. Therefore, they comply with IEC 60947-2 Annex B specifications.
● The SENTRON 3VL BCD module complies with standards concerning electromagnetic compatibility: IEC 61000-4-2 to 61000-4-6, IEC 61000-4-11 and EN 55011, Class B (equivalent to CISPR 11).
Operating Conditions
● SENTRON 3VL circuit breakers are suitable for enclosed applications.
● For operation under demanding conditions (e.g., dust, corrosive vapors, and hazardous gases), suitable protective enclosures must be provided.
RCD Module (Note: Original text used both BCD and RCD; RCD is the standard term)
● The RCD module is used for retrofitting the switch. Can also be retrofitted by the user.
● SENTRON 3VL circuit breakers with an RCD module can be fed from the top or bottom.
● All SENTRON 3VL circuit breakers are available with auxiliary contacts, alarm contacts, undervoltage releases, and shunt trips.
● Protects plants and equipment against overload and damage caused by earth faults (earth fault protection).
● When the vector sum of the currents in all poles (= earth fault current) exceeds the preset operating current and time delay setting, the RCD module trips the circuit breaker using the vector sum of all phase currents. Measures AC currents and pulsating DC currents (CBR, Utilization Category A, compliant with DIN EN 60947-2).
