Why is the SIMOCODE pro Intelligent Motor Management System Needed?
Whether in papermaking, water, chemical, mining, color, oil and gas, power plants, sewage treatment, or subway infrastructure construction industries, what customers care most about is: how to minimize equipment downtime and maximize plant availability? Siemens' answer: The SIMOCODE pro intelligent motor management system. On one hand, the SIMOCODE pro has the following features to ensure continuous plant production:
  • Supports PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or OPC UA communication.
  • Avoids equipment malfunctions, minimizing equipment downtime and reducing losses to the lowest level.
  • Even in the event of a fault, the central control room, substation, and equipment site can easily obtain rich motor information.
On the other hand, SIMOCODE pro can optimize project investment and spare parts costs:
  • Integrates multiple control, protection, monitoring, and diagnosis functions.
  • Replaces traditional wiring, IO schemes, and related components.
  • Design convenience, no need to build complex control circuits.
  • Simplified construction, replacing terminal boxes and complex hard wiring and a large number of cables, shortening the cycle.
  • Easy commissioning, realizing quantitative setting, commissioning, and programming through intelligent software.
  • Easy maintenance, obtaining rich data, minimizing maintenance time and costs.
SIMOCODE pro is a modular motor management system mainly used for low - voltage motors or resistance loads. It optimizes the connection between the electrical circuit and the central control system, improving the availability of users while greatly reducing the cost of installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance.
Usually, each SIMOCODE pro intelligent management system needs to be equipped with a basic unit and a separate current detection module or current/voltage detection module. The modules are connected through system - used connecting cables. They can be installed as a single unit (front - rear arrangement) or installed separately (parallel). The current detection module or current/voltage detection module corresponding to the power class of the motor is connected to the connection terminal, and the connection terminal can be connected to the operator panel in the control cabinet. The current detection module or current/voltage detection module and the operator panel are connected by connecting cables from the basic unit. By adding expansion modules, SIMOCODE pro S and pro V can add more inputs and outputs, and pro V can also realize functions such as detection of earth faults, modules, temperature, etc., and monitoring; by adding DM - F - Local and DM - F - ProfiSafe fault - safe modules, pro V can also achieve fault - safe functions. All modules are connected by connecting cables. According to different installation specifications, select corresponding connecting cables. In addition, the outer circular connecting cables are more robust and durable, used in 场合 where internal cables are easily worn, such as between the measurement module and the basic unit. The maximum distance between modules (for example, the distance between the basic unit and the current detection module) shall not exceed 2.5 meters. The total length of connecting cables in a system shall not exceed 3 meters.
Product Series
SIMOCODE pro is divided into several functional series:
  • SIMOCODE pro S is a compact system, used for direct starting and reversible starting, or for motor protection.
  • SIMOCODE pro C is an intelligent system, used for direct starting, reversible starting, and star - delta starting, or for motor protection or controlling soft starters. This system can be expanded through a multi - function module and expand input/output points. It can monitor and control earth faults through 3UL23 and other current sensors, and monitor motor temperature through PT100/PT1000, KTY83/KTY84, or NTC temperature sensors.
  • SIMOCODE pro V is an expandable system with complete control functions, which can expand the input, output, and monitoring functions of the system through expansion modules.
Product Features and Customer Benefits
  • Through PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or OPC UA, integrate the electrical circuit into the process control system, greatly reducing the wiring cost between each set of electrical cabinets and PLC.
  • By integrating configurable control and monitoring functions in SIMOCODE pro, distributed control is realized, saving resources in the automation system. Even if the control system or bus fails, the motor can still be fully controlled and protected.
  • Through fault diagnosis and prediction in the control system, the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the system are simplified, improving the availability of the system and the friendliness of maintenance and repair.
  • Highly modular design, users can flexibly configure control schemes according to the control needs of different motors.
  • Using integrated control functions instead of electrical circuits, significantly reducing the number of required hardware components and wiring. Since the control function is integrated into the module, the cost of inventory management and possible wiring errors are reduced.
  • Using electronic full - range motor protection, ensuring the long - term stability of the required characteristics. Even after years of operation, reliable tripping can be ensured.
  • SIMOCODE pro is equipped with a new generation of high - precision current/voltage detection module, with an accuracy of up to 1.5%, expanding the current range ratio from 10 - 100A to 10 - 115A, achieving a more compact size design under higher current range conditions; measuring voltage in insulation - grounded or high - impedance systems without removing the module; flexibly setting internal ground fault current thresholds, etc.
