SIEMENS SINAMICS G120
PM240-2 Push-Through Power Module
Product Overview
The Siemens SINAMICS G120 6SL3211-1PE23-3UL0 is a PM240-2 Push-Through Power Module designed for industrial variable-speed drive applications within the SINAMICS G120 platform.
This model is designed for 3-phase 380–480 V AC supplies and provides 15 kW Low Overload (LO) and 11 kW High Overload (HO) output capability. It features an integrated braking chopper and is supplied without an integrated EMC filter. Unlike the standard block-style PM240-2 variants, this version uses a push-through installation design, allowing the power electronics and heatsink to be positioned through the control cabinet enclosure for optimized thermal management.
The unit is supplied as a Power Module only, without a Control Unit or operator panel, and is intended to be combined with a compatible SINAMICS G120 Control Unit. Siemens documentation specifies it for operation with Control Unit firmware from V4.6 onward.
Key Features
PM240-2 Power Module
The PM240-2 forms the power-electronic stage of a SINAMICS G120 drive. Its primary function is to convert the incoming three-phase AC supply into a controlled electrical output for the motor.
Push-Through Installation
The 6SL3211- designation identifies the push-through version of the PM240-2 family.
In this configuration, the power module is mounted through the rear wall of the control cabinet, allowing the heatsink and associated thermal components to extend outside the cabinet's conditioned interior space.
This architecture can reduce the thermal load transferred into the control cabinet and can be advantageous for high-power applications with limited cabinet cooling capacity. Siemens catalogs this model specifically as a PM240-2 Push-Through variant.
15 kW Low-Overload Rating
The converter provides:
15 kW Low Overload
with a 32 A LO output current.
11 kW High-Overload Rating
For applications requiring greater short-term torque capability, the drive provides:
11 kW High Overload
with a 26 A HO output current.
Integrated Braking Chopper
The PM240-2 incorporates an integrated braking chopper, allowing an external braking resistor to be connected.
During rapid deceleration, regenerative energy can raise the DC-link voltage. The braking chopper switches the braking resistor into the DC circuit to dissipate this excess energy and help maintain the DC-link voltage within a permissible range.
Unfiltered Version
The UL0 configuration denotes the version without an integrated EMC filter.
This should be distinguished from the corresponding 6SL3211-1PE23-3AL0, which is the push-through version with an integrated Class A filter. Siemens documentation lists both variants in the same PM240-2 family.
