Series Overview
The 3RV1 circuit breaker is a compact current-limiting circuit breaker, most suitable for load-fed circuits. This circuit breaker can be used for the starting, breaking, overload, and short-circuit protection of three-phase induction motors (with a maximum power of up to 45kW at AC400V) and other loads (with a maximum rated current of up to 100A).
- S00 specification —— Total width 45mm, maximum rated current 12A. When the voltage is AC400V, the applicable three-phase induction motor capacity can reach 5.5kW.
- S0 specification —— Total width 45mm, maximum rated current 25A. When the voltage is AC400V, the applicable three-phase induction motor capacity can reach 11kW.
- S2 specification —— Total width 55mm, maximum rated current 50A. When the voltage is AC400V, the applicable three-phase induction motor capacity can reach 22kW.
- S3 specification —— Total width 70mm, maximum rated current 100A. When the voltage is AC400V, the applicable three-phase induction motor capacity can reach 45kW.
Operating Conditions
The 3RV1 circuit breaker is suitable for any climate. It is designed for normal operating environments in enclosed spaces (such as dust-free, free of corrosive gases or harmful gases). When installed in dusty and humid places, a suitable enclosure needs to be provided. The 3RV1 circuit breaker can have wires connected from the top or the bottom at will.
The standards on which the structure of the circuit breaker is based allow ambient temperature, maximum breaking capacity, tripping action current, and other boundary conditions to be found in the technical data and tripping characteristic curves.
The 3RV1 circuit breaker can be used in IT systems (IT networks). When needed, special technical data should be considered. Because even for motors with the same rated power, their operating current, starting current, and current peak value are all different. Therefore, the rated value of the motor in the selection table can only represent guide data. Keeping the actual rated data and starting data of the motor is very important for selecting the most suitable circuit breaker. This principle also applies to circuit breakers for transformer protection.
To prevent early tripping due to sensitivity to phase failure, the circuit breaker should always be in a connected state to ensure that current passes through all three main conductors.
Short-Circuit Protection Devices
When a short-circuit situation occurs, the short-circuit trip of the 3RV1 circuit breaker isolates the faulty load-fed circuit from the main power supply circuit to prevent further expansion of damage.
Because at such connection points, it is not expected that a higher breaking current will occur, so circuit breakers with a breaking capacity of 50kA or 100kA essentially already have short-circuit breaking capability at AC400V voltage.
Motor Protection
The tripping characteristic design of the 3RV1 circuit breaker is mainly used to protect three-phase induction motors. Therefore, the circuit breaker can also be regarded as a motor circuit breaker.
The rated current In of the motor to be protected is set on the scale. The factory setting of the short-circuit current trip is 13 times the rated current of the switch. This value allows the motor to start smoothly and be properly protected at the same time.
The phase-failure protection of the circuit breaker ensures that when a phase failure and over-current of other phases occur, the circuit breaker trips instantaneously. Circuit breakers with thermal overload release tripping are usually designed to meet Class 10 tripping protection levels. However, S2-specification and S3-specification circuit breakers can also be used for Class 20 protection, thus allowing the motor to start under harsh conditions.
Circuit Protection
The 3RV1 circuit breaker is used for motor protection and is also suitable for circuit protection.
To prevent early tripping due to phase failure, the three main current-carrying circuits must always ensure uniform loading. For single-phase loads, the current-carrying circuits should be connected in series.
Main Switch and EMERGENCY-OFF Switch
The isolation function of circuit breakers 3RV10, 3RV11, 3RV13, 3RV14, and 3RV16 complies with IEC60947-2 standards. Therefore, considering compliance with IEC60204-1 standards, they can be used as main switches and EMERGENCY-OFF switches.
The 3RV29.6-2 strong-force door interlock rotating mechanism also meets the requirements of the isolation function.
